ABOUT US
The purpose of the Reno Alpine Club is to:
-
build a more cohesive adventure community in the local area
-
foster inspiration for adventure (mountaineering, rock climbing, skiing, white water, etc.) objectives, and promote a safety culture to ensure safe returns
-
conservation of mountain and wilderness regions
OUR MISSION
To foster a cohesive and vibrant local adventure community by promoting ambitious alpine pursuits, celebrating accomplishments, advancing education, and strengthening connections through supportive engagement.

WHAT WE DO
Host monthly talks to allow adventure community members to share their adventures and the vision which inspired them. We hope that through providing this in-person platform, sharing experiences can inspire each other to greater adventures, provide lessons learned and promote greater appreciation for this amazing place we're lucky to call home.
We collaborate with local businesses and non-profit organizations to maintain and clean-up wilderness and outdoor recreation areas. Please reach out to us if this is something you want to be involved in!
We assemble a semi-regular newsletter, to provide a platform for additional community members to share their stories, adventure book reviews and voices on land conservation.
Moving forward, we hope to find a liability-reasonable method of promoting mentorship to those looking to seek bigger objectives. For the time being, we suggest attending monthly meetings to meet potential mentors, and becoming a member at The Block or Mesa Rim to take advantage of the workshops, classes and lectures they provide.
OUR HISTORY
Emma Kluge, inspired by her time on the board of the local Otago Chapter of the New Zealand Alpine Club, decided to create a local adventure club to support the local alpine and adventure community. She reached out to Adam Harris to speak at the first meeting in August 2024, and together they founded the Reno Alpine Club. In the last year, the club has celebrated the accomplishments of many skilled athletes, and expanded the board to include Derek Field and Bella Brownwood.
